Relational and Communal

Here are some thoughts on being Relational and Communal from a recent Orientation Group.

House churches....
...are where you can get to know people, ask hard questions (and maybe have new questions created), grow spiritually, serve alongside others, share meals, and express your faith (or learn for the first time about faith) face-to-face in real time with actual people. We use the terms house church, organic church, simple church, and home church interchangeably. For us "church" means small family-like units that are learning to love God and their neighbor. A list of these communities follows. Please email the contact person mentioned for more information. You're welcome to visit several before settling into one. Remember, these little bands of disciples are far from perfect. We don't claim to have our faith figured out, but we're on the journey together and you're invited along, too.

 ...is probably best defined by three groups (in no particular order):

• The BoT (Board of Trustees)
• The LC (Leadership Community)

MEET THE PASTORAL COUNCIL
Recent Actions and Decisions of the Pastoral Council

The Pastoral Council is a group of leaders who care for the health and vision of Vineyard Central. They are:

Jesse and Ryan MooneyBullock
Jesse and Ryan lead one of the Speckled Bird House Churches in Northside. Ryan's a high school biology teacher and Jesse's a puppeteer and woodworker. They have had their first child... fondly referred to as Sweet Pea.

Jeremiah and Sarah Griswold
Jeremiah is a Norwood native and is blessed to be married to a hot nurse. Together, they have three beautiful daughters: Hope, Naomi, and Isabel. They are fresh off of a six month trip to Guatemala and currently live in the Brownhouse. Jeremiah plays an administrative role in Vineyard Central and also works at Mother's Tattoo while Sarah is a nurse in Erlanger.

Kevin Rains
Kevin's the sr. pastor of VC and runs a family owned auto body shop in Norwood. He and his wife Tracy have 2 kids: Izaac age 10 who can read several books at once like his dad, and Zoe age 8 who takes care of everyone she encounters. Kevin and Tracy oversee the Brownhouse, loving those who live with them and all who come through the doors ... including the 3 dogs.

David and Juli Thompson
David and Juli lead the Mills House Church on Wednesday nights. Dave's a gifted teacher and does some of our Sunday morning teachings and is the development coordinator for The Model Group as an occupation. Juli's a gifted photographer by trade and one of our studio artists. They've been married a couple of years, have two dogs, and like to travel to India. They just had their first baby girl, Lucinda Elizabeth!

MEET THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Recent Board Meetings

The Board cares for real property, meaning they oversee property and budget, plus hiring personnel and any legal matters. They are:

Owen Brock
Owen and his wife Sandie live in Norwood and have been with VC since before we moved into house churches ... that's a long time. Owen's two kids are grown: Shaina's married and lives in Cincinnati and Caleb also works in Cincinnati. Owen's a graphic designer and designed the banners at the top of our web site pages, among many other things.

Dave Nixon
Dave's described above. Here's a different photo for variety. Here's a another tidbit of info: He's an avid runner ... currently averaging about 50 miles a week. There's a recent article by Dave Nixon here.

Kevin Rains
Kevin's also described above, and here's another nugget about him: His birthday is June 28. That's very important information if you want to be on his good side.

THE LEADERSHIP COMMUNITY
The leadership community is made up of those who are actively leading home churches and ministries within Vineyard Central. This group meets once a month for worship, prayer, and training.
