DETAILS
This summer (July 23-31) Owen and Sandie hiked The Wonderland Trail, a nine day, 95+ mile hike around Mt. Rainier, a 14,409 foot dormant volcano that is part of the Cascade mountain range in the Pacific Northwest.

The Wonderland Trail hike is somewhat unique. Rather than riding ridges as you often do on trail hiking, instead you climb up and down the numerous ridges carved out by Mt. Rainer’s fourteen glaciers. The hike was both spectacular in beauty and difficulty. During the course of the nine days we hiked up 22,000 feet and then back down 22,000 feet. Day 1 was a 12.5 mile hike, with a 3,950 ft. ascent, and a 2600 ft. decent. There were lots of moments of being both at the edge of your endurance, and others of being immersed in fields of the most beautiful alpine flowers set against the ubiquitous snow-clad mountain rising up to fill the sky.

Come join us. We have some photographs to show, and some stories to tell. We have learned a few things about ourselves through digging deep in the midst of serious physical and mental challenges. Please plan on bringing some snacks and beverages to share with others.2013 Owen Photos
