VC Kids Update: April

Shepherding the Children of Vineyard Central: April Summary

Christ is Risen! He is Risen Indeed!

During the month of April, the children concluded learning about the prophets that point us to repentance in preparation for the festal celebrations of Palm Sunday and Easter. In order to celebrate Palm Sunday, the 5-7 class made palm branches out of dowel rods and green paper. On Easter, the 5-7 year olds led the congregation in participating in an extended Eucharist table as they offered blessings to each person as they received feast food of cheese, fruit, and chocolate. The 1-4 year olds on Easter discussed what happens when one believes in the resurrection and celebrated by finding Easter eggs and blowing bubbles. Following Easter, the 5-7 year olds explored the story of the women discovering the empty tomb. The children wondered about how the women may have felt at the discovery, why the disciples didn’t believe them and why God sent an angel to share the news.

In the season following Easter and up to Pentecost, the children will be celebrating that Jesus lives and invites us to life. They will memorize the John 14:6, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

If you are interested in assisting in shepherding our children, please contact one of the leaders. We would be happy to explain more and have you join the volunteer team or visit one of the classes. There is a need for additional volunteers in the 5-7 year old class and 8-10 year old class.
